Habita entre las provincias de Quillota y Cachapoal (32°50’-34°20’ lat. S), entre los 1600-2600 msnm. Crece en laderas secas y bien drenadas, constituidas por arena o rocas sueltas; en lugares de vegetación dispersa y en los bordes de las zonas con matorral esclerófilo y matorral subandino, a menudo con Chuquiraga oppositifolia D.Don Florece de octubre a abril
