Hábito

Annual herbs with stems 10-15 cm.

Características claves para su identificación

This species is most closely related to S. walkeri with which it shares a distribution. It is easily distinguished from the latter in having compressed-tetragonal fruits 3-3.6 mm wide (vs cylindrical, narrower 1.5-3 mm long), short styles, 0.4 mm long (vs. being conspicuous 1.5-3 mm long) and dense, corymbose fruiting heads 2-3 cm long (vs. lax, racemose, to 15 cm long) Al-Shehbaz, 1989).
