Distribution and habitat
A widespread coastal species distributed from Regions I (Tarapacá) to VIII (Bíobío) from sea-level to 2300 m, mostly in sandy and rocky places.
Habit
Perennial, erect shrub 30–200 cm tall. Flowers from February to April.
Key characteristics
A variable species especially in leaf shape and hair covering (indumentum). However, it can be recognised by the singly lobed leaves and usually dense, many flowered inflorescences.
Notes
Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
