Distribution and habitat

Distributed from Regions II (Antofagasta) to IV (Coquimbo) where it is found from 20-2200 metres above sea-level in arid, rocky or gravelly slopes, quebradas and coastal lomas formations.

Habit

Woody shrub 20–100 cm tall. Flowers August to January

Key characteristics

Distinguished from S. brachyantherum by its highly divided pinnatifid leaves and by the larger size of individual segments. The flower corolla of S. remyanum is larger (11-22 mm across) and the anthers are greater than 3 mm in length.

Notes

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
