Atacama

Distribution and habitat

Restricted to Region III (Atacama) from Vellenar and extending south near to the Coquimbo. It occurs at c. 800 metres above sea-level but its exact habitat is unknown.

Habit

Annual or perennial herb (sometimes woody at base) up to 40 cm tall. Flowers from October to November.

Key characteristics

Easily recognised by the leaves being petiolate (rarely stalkless) with with truncate bases.

Notes

A very poorly known species which has only been collected on six occasions

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
