Distribution and habitat
Andes mountains of central Chile where it grows from 2500-4340 above sea level. Frequent along streamsides always in full sun on mountain slopes and in openings in forested locations.
Habit
Spreading, herbaceous, rhizomatous perennial to 60 cm tall. Flowers from December to March

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
