    Habit

    Annual herb. Flowering early September to mid October.

    Key characteristics

    The only species in the genus that has variation in the length of the bracteate portion of the inflorescence.

    Atacama and Coquimbo

    Distribution and habitat

    Slopes and rocky areas at altitudes of 350 to 2400 m.
