Distribution and habitat

This species has been collected on the slopes of the Callaqui volcano in the Biobío Region and presently this is the only known location. It occurs in the "high-altitude grassland", above the boundary of the montane deciduous forests of Nothofagus pumilio and the scrublands of Nothofagus antarctica, ccompanied by species such as Azorella prolifera, Baccharis magellanica, and Festuca acanthophylla (Marticornea et al. (2023).

Key characteristics

This species very similar to Chaetanthera villosa but differs by having completely glabrous leaves and bracts.
