Distribution and habitat

Widely distributed from Camarico en la ribera north of Rio Claro (Region del Maule), to Cañete in the Province of Arauco (Region del Biobio). It grows from the coast to sunny exposed hills of the foothills of the Andes up to 1300 m. It can also be found in sclerophyllus vegetation and especially in the Maulino forests (Muñoz-Schick & Moreira-Muñoz, 2003)

Habit

Perennial up to 1 m tall. Flowers from December to February and fruits in January.

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
