Distribution and habitat
Restricted to coastal sandy soils and further inland from Tortoral until Vallenar (Región Atacama). It has an altitudinal range between sea level to 710 m.

Habit
Perennial to 20 cm tall. Flowers from September to November and produces fruit from October
Key characteristics
The flower colour is normally a deep yellow but sometimes it can be much paler and in few examples (Canto del Agua) white with two broad yellow bands on the upper tepals. Some specimens with spots on the tepals resemble A. diluta ssp. chrysantha.
Notes
Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
