Distribution and habitat
Extensive distribution from northern Chile, south to the lake district (ca 2000 km), within this range it occurs from the coast to lower slopes of the Andes alpine habitats (2500 m). Within this extensive range T. tricolor can be found in very contrasting habitats including Andean scree, climbing up cacti in fog oasis and clambering over trees and shrubs in temperate rainforests and Mediterranaen scrubland.
Habit
Tuberous, climbing perennial with slender stems 3-5 m. Flowering from September to December.
