Distribution and habitat

Nolana leptophylla is recorded from rocky soils at elevations of over 1000 m and often amongst a few highly xerophytic members of its vegetational community; due to the down-slope movement of mericarps from upper elevations, some individuals have been recorded at near sea-level (Dillon, 2023).
