Distribution and habitat

Inhabits the northern distribution part of the species in a ca. 100km north-south distribution between Quebrada Encantada and Llano de Varas in the desertic shrublands between 1000–3000 m above sea level (Bull-Hereñu, 2020).

Key characteristics

Differs from the typical variety in the yellowish and more dense indumentum throughout, leaves with a more acute apex and serrate margin, as for the more tomentose hypanthium which can be larger than the perianth (Bull-Hereñu, 2020).
