Temperate Forests and Valdivian rainforest

Distribution and habitat

Restricted to the Region of Los Ríos in the coastal mountains from Corral, south to the Río Bueno. Here it occurs from sea level to 600 m. It grows in very deep shade of rainforests sometimes dominated by Fitzroya cupressoides. Other dominant associated species can include Aextoxicon punctatum. Eucryphia cordifolia, Laurelia sempervirens, Saxegothaea conspicua, and Weinmannia trichosperma.
