Distribution and habitat

It inhabits the coastal zones and hills from the south of Coquimbo Region (29° 54′ S, 71° 15′ W) to the Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins Region (34° 10′ S, 70° 43′ W) (Baeza et al., 2009). At Pichidangui it grows with Leucocoryne violacescens, Sisyrinchium graminifolium, Conanthera campanulata and Tecophilea violaeflora.

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
