Distribution and habitat
Restricted to the coast of the Region of Coquimbo (Province of Elqui, 29°25'–29°50' lat. S). 170–600 m about sea level. It inhabits shady hillsides and ravines, rocky outcrops with large boulders. It can be found among dense vegetation dominated by Heliotropium stenophyllum, Senna cumingii var. coquimbensis, Ophryosporus triangularis and Lobelia polyphylla. Also present in grazed areas with a dominance of shrubby species of Asteraceae (Morales-Fierro et al., 2020).

Habit
Annual herb up to 50 cm tall.
Key characteristics
This variety has a bluish or lilac uniform corolla colour, with or without a single faint dark spot in the upper part of each lateral lobe (in the separation of the lateral and middle lobe). These spots do not reach the margin of the lobes (Morales-Fierro et al., 2020).
