Distribution and habitat

Distributed from from the coast at Carrizal Alto (Region Atacama) to Punta Herradura (coastal) and inland to Cuesta de las Cardas near La Serena (Region Valparaíso). Here it grows on stony slopes and plateaus in the coastal fog oasis in semi desert areas.

Habit

Perennial. Pachycaulous shrub up to 2 m tall.

Notes

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
