Distribution and habitat

Recorded from the Regions of Antofagasta and Atacama from 2500–3050 metres above sea level. It occurs in the interior hyperarid habitats - far from the influence of coastal fog (Dillon, 2023)

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
