Only known from the Coquimbo Region in the Andes where it occurs around Embalse La Laguna.

Habit

Perennial to 18 cm tall

Key characteristics

Differs from M. bracteata var. bracteata in the oblong lance-shaped leaves, well developed stipules, shorter and more campanulate shape of the floral cup (hypanthium) which is less than 3 cm long.

Notes

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
