    Habit

    Spreading, spinescent shrub 10-100 meters tall. Flowering September to February.

    Key characteristics

    Close to G. spinosissimum but differing by having divided leaves and stalked flowers and fruits

    Regions

    Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo

    Distribution and habitat

    Northern Chile in desert flood plains and rocky slopes 10- 400 metres above sea-level.

    Notes

    Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
