Key characteristics

Closely resembles the comparatively widely distributed E. thinophila with which it has been confused. The latter has vegetative differences which include a root that is a carrot-like, fragile tuber (more robust in E. dilloniana); the shoots are soft, herbaceous, prostrate with only the apex erect; leaves broadly lance-shaped, 8 mm long and 3-3.5 mm wide (vs. 12-30 cm x c.3 mm in E. dilloniana) (Haager & Šedivá 2014).
