Distribution and habitat
Endémica to the regions of Atacama (province of Huasco) and Coquimbo (province of Elqui and Limarí), where it mainly occurs in the precordillera of the Andes and in the coastal cordillera between the rivers of Huasco and Elqui. It forms part of the matorral vegetation with Balbisia peduncularis and Bahia ambrosioides which includes the cacti Eulychnia acida var. acida and Eulychnia breviflora var. breviflora. It is also found the Matorral Estepario Interior and the Matorral Estepario Costero and that of the flowering desert.
