Mediterranean and Mountain matorral & sclerophyllous forest

Distribution and habitat

Restricted to a relatively small area between 500 and 1000 m above sea level in Vilches (Talca Province). Formerly thought to only occur in a single location but two more locations have been discovered in the vicinity (Belov et al. 2010). Occurs in forest with Nothofagus glauca, N. macrocarpa and N. alpina. Other species include Dasyphyllum diacanthoides and Rhaphithamnus spinosus

Habit

Sub-shrub, 1-2 tall. Flowers November to December. Fruiting December to January

Notes

Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
