Distribution and habitat
This species has a very restricted distribution and is only known from the Cordillera de la Costa from Cerro el Roble (32°58'S) and Altos de Colliguay (33°12'S). It has an altitudinal range from 1200 to 2000 m above sea level.

Habit
Perennial herb from 15 to 90 cm tall. Flowering from November to February.
Notes
This is an extremely variable species in the colour of the flowers which can be white, pink, orange or lilac, but all tepals have dark stripes.
Seed of this species is banked by the national seed bank of Chile, INIA.
