Distribution and habitat

Restricted to Valparaíso Region and currently known only from the type locality in the Melón Mountain Range. It inhabits crevices of south- to southeast-facing rocky outcrops between 530 and 720 m alt. The surrounding sclerophyllous open forest/shrubland is dominated by the tree species Quillaja saponaria and Lithraea caustica, with Retanilla trinervia, Porlieria chilensis and Colliguaja odorifera. Associated rock outcrop species include Calceolaria ascendens subsp. exigua, Stachys sp., Ephedra chilensis, Lobelia excelsa, Leucostele chiloensis and Puya alpestris subsp. zoellneri (Rosende, 2025).

Habit

Shrub 0.4–1.6 m tall. Flowering occurs primarily between October and December, occasionally
extending until March. Fruiting is observed between November and March (Rosende, 2025)
